The size of the room influences (and a lot) when choosing a colour. If the room is very large you have more freedom, but if it is small, we do not recommend choosing intense and warm colours, but rather calmer colours so that they do not create an overwhelming atmosphere.

It is advisable, if the room is facing north, to paint the wall in warm and pale tones, because it is supposed to receive less natural light. If it faces south, you can choose cooler colours.
If you want to paint one wall coloured and leave the rest white, paint the one with the window so that the light bounces off the white walls and makes the room brighter.

It is partly related to the orientation, if it receives direct sunlight for a large part of the day, you could choose darker colours. Otherwise, it is best to go for softer tones.
This applies to natural light, but artificial light should also be taken into account. Depending on the type of lighting you choose, one type of colour or another will suit you better. Cold bulbs reduce the vividness of the colours and warm bulbs bring, as their name suggests, warmth to the atmosphere.

It seems obvious, but many people don't take it into account. It's clear that you need to consider the furniture and décor of the room when choosing the colour. If the style of your home is nondescript, painting the walls red is probably not the best option.

In addition to colour, paint type matters. Bathrooms and other damp rooms are usually painted with anti-fungicide paints. For the rest of the rooms, water-based plastic is the most common, but there are many more types.
